Artist Biography

I've been creating art from my earliest memories, and I kept that interest close to me all through my formative years and into professional life.  While still existant in the fringy corners of my conciousness, deeper priorities took center stage in my adult years and art was something I enjoyed looking at, with little time to engage.  I found an outlet in photography for a few decades (...a mere fraction of a second to capture) while I focused on keeping a job and feeding my family.  In that period I managed to produce tens of thousands photos, a few that I can say I am proud of.

Finding myself at a pivot point in my life, I chose to retire and craft a much more simple life as a full time travler.  So, I sold my house and all of it's contents, built myself a 12 foot long RV with about 72 square feet of living area.

I traveled in that trailer for about 7 years (meeting my wife in the second year), wandering the western half of the United States, moving every couple of weeks to someplace new.  Annually, I made the trek up to the Idaho Pan Handle, camping my way along the Little North Fork of the Coeur d'Alene River and spending time with family that lives up this-a-way.  After a more than two or three decade hiatus from drawing and/or painting, I found myself in some really beautiful places and had the unimaginable thought, "I'll bet I can draw this!"  So, I did!

The creative effluent of the last 7 or so years (and a few older piecies that I love) are posted here.  I have reignited (still a small but growing smolder) my passion for art and have for the first time in my life mustered the courage to show my work publically at oganized shows aimed specifically at the art community.  Yikes!!!

Having completely demolished my "old life" and all of it's bits that gave me purpose ... value ... self worth, my art represents the absolute last remaining foundation of "me".  I've stepped into the arena and have my battle brush at the ready.  My loving wife at my side, doing her dangdest to keep me focused and encouraged, I press on.

RRAFA represents a significant door to my potential future, and I am happy to have become a part of this artist community.
