Workshop Supplies:

Please bring suggested supplies to the class. I encourage you to be flexible and use what you have whenever possible when beginning. We can adapt the colors and brushes to what you already have.

Watercolor Brushes: Sable or synthetic or a blend of the two (Synthetic is cheapest). Get the sharpest point. Princeton Brushes are my fave.

  • 2 Round brushes, sizes #2 or 3 and #10 or 12 If you like working looser, go bigger with your brushes.

  • 2 Flat and/or angle brushes, sizes 3/8 AND 5/8

Paper: Yupo paper is available at most art supply stores or online at amazon. I supply the Yupo for Workshop classes.

Watercolor Paints: I will be instructing with Watercolor Paints from the tube. If you already have watercolors, you do not need to purchase these particular colors. They are suggestions. Starting with a smaller number of colors is better - you can always mix colors.

My favorite paint companies are: Daniel Smith and Winsor Newton

Blue: Ultramarine, Prussian, Indigo, Turquoise

Brown: Van Dyke, Sepia, Burnt and or Raw Umber, Quin Rust

Also: Buff & Titanium White, Perylene Maroon, Ocre, DS Moonglow

Palette: White is best. I personally use a Butcher Tray

Pallet (a plate is fine too)

Other Items: Paper towels (I prefer Viva), Q-tips cotton swabs, Watercolor pencil (neutral color)

Instructor Bio

"I adore art in every aspect and challenging myself, therefore, I paint watercolor on waterproof, plastic paper called Yupo!

I start with an image (or more) then let go and embrace the process. I love the wonderment of creating my techniques, development of details and the waterflow in each creation. I have fun breaking through the ‘rules’ and expectations of traditional watercolor. The paint sits on top of the Yupo creating a vibrant color.

I delight in teaching classes and workshops- watching others immerse themselves in the fascination of Yupo. I am presently working on an instructional book on my techniques and process of painting watercolor on Yupo.

I have a background as a Graphic Artist and Illustrator. I have illustrated USGS maps for the book 'The Voice from This Stone' by Dr Kevin Scott and worked with names such as Paula Abdul, Natalie Gulbis, Misty May and Lenny Krazelberg on exercise images for equipment.

I reside in Camas, Washington USA with my retired US Marine husband, Eric, and two adult sons."
